Markus 'Wayne' Schlegel, the author of the A Hunt through the Dark series has formed a team to create his own interpretation of the mother of all AD&D computer roleplaying games: THE POOL OF RADIANCE. The legendary story of ssi's classic is split into 3 chapters with many details, roleplaying elements and deep atmosphere. We did our best to make it stable and we've spent many hours to add polish and depth. We thank the community for their ideas and suggestions. Many of them found their way into this final version. We hope you like the final game.
It is a straight forward old-school single-player roleplaying game - no more, no less.-Attention! Old saved games of version 1.4.1.0 and lower will NOT work with this version. Please export your character at the end of chapter 2 and start a new game. You will have the opportunity to go directly to chapter 3.-Files NameTypeSizeDownloadsPORRIntro3.wmvPORRIntro3.wmvSubmitted: / Last Updated: wmv5.5Mb7250Teaser Movie Chapter 3.
I seem to have hit a wall after rescueing the girl from Malvaunt. When I return it starts a convo with her bro but a fight breaks out immediately.that journal item never updates on return from the island and I can't get back into council chambers to continue. Can't get info from anyone or a quest to continue and I've looked around prob 5 times. Anyone know what should happen next so I can try to activate the sequence?
Thanks in advance, really enjoy this place, glad I found it and started modding. Replayed this after a few years. Rouge/Ranger/Archane Archer. I'd forgotten there are no good bows to be had. There are only two places to craft magical items and if you don't have all the needed materials on you the plot will prevent you from going back later after you have the components. Only four essences altogether so once you get them, plan accordingly.I also hit the bug mentioned above.
Before your party leaves the pirate camp at Stormy Bay, make a good save. Odds are you will have to redo the convo with Lord Nanther and the fight with the thugs more than once to get both journal plot lines to update correctly.Still a fun module with a lot of content. Took me several evenings to get through it all. I was unable to get past the Pirates/Thugs on the dock bug no matter what I tried. The fight should have never broken out BEFORE the end of the conversation, which is why there is a bug. That entire section needs to be rewritten.
I might do it someday. You could also make a nifty item that calls a script that spawns Nanther, adds him to your party and updates your journal but again all of this could have been avoded simply by triggering this fight event after the last bit of dialogue. Such a shame. I recommend this module as before because it was fun up to that point, but be aware you might not be able to finish this.
It's not bad. Very straightforward, not many hidden places/things to explore, so that might be a bit of a letdown.
Pool of Radiance was not Strategic Simulations Incorporated's (SSI) first foray into computer roleplaying games, but it may have been the company's best remembered one. Tactical Studies Rules (TSR) was looking for a video game producer to bring its famous Advanced Dungeons and Dragons rule system to the ever growing personal computer market, and the staff of both companies found in each other.
You can't really roleplay much.It contains a deus ex machina and I wasn't a fan of that. Also the ending completely depends on a single conversation, which is also a let down to me.It's also easy to break many quests if you don't do things in the right order, or cast things in anticipation of some fights. All in all it was an enjoyable experience, but not really one of the better modules out there. I have found a few bugs in this older content. One is doors in sokol keep.
Have gapping between the usable entity and the wallframe around them. The second is a glitch where using the addon mage (2nd chapter?) to exit any area/room. It will lock the engine up. If I use any character other than the one created at start to exit an area. The game glitches out and locks up during transition loading screens. Good to see some of the classics of Strategic Simulations being remade in the nwn2 engine.
Wish someone would point me to DM tutorials. Would love to remaster all of the pools series (twilight, and darkness), curse of the azure bonds, silver blades, etc. I have a game-breaking bug at the end of the Zhentenar camp to deliver Councilor Cardona letter. When trying to escape on the boat I have my conversation with Gerald and at the end I am not transported but stuck on the island and for some reason Ren o' the blades appears with 0 health and I can not click on anything and the game is completely locked.I have tried to dmjumptopoint to the new phlan docks (Which is an area I found from the NW2 Toolset for this mod) but the area is not available and I can't go any further in this game. REALLY s, so if anyone has any other suggestions, I am all ears.I have tried going back to a save before the last battle and just run to Gerald and the same bug happens.
I will go 9 out of 10. Few typos here and there, but since I don't speak English as a native speaker, I really don't mind:)Only annoying place is the polluting dark temple island, with the mad mage in controls - portal system to get to the mage's chambers was a bit difficult to navigate with all three characters.
Final clash with the mage himself was a bit too tough for my liking, and the restful bed was unusable (blocked by inpassable curtains). And the final showdown with the Lord of the Ruins, I spared Cadorrna's life because I thought he would be taken to New Phlan to get a new trial which didn't happen because he was just let go.
Blaah.Like someone mentioned above, I wouldn't mind seeing (and playing) Azure Bonds and Silver Blades with this quality. Really wouldn't. Great module.
However, I am stuck. On the last Kuto's Well section after I am left in charge of the defense I get a first wave of Orcs attacking. After defeating the Orcs however, I am stuck. Nothing happens.I looked at the playthrough on Youtube and can see a Giant attacking.
That doesn't happen to me. I already loaded a previous safe but exact same thing. Anything I could do with a console command perhaps?Would be a shame to not finish the module this close to the end.BestRichard.

- Hi Salvatore! Try now.
- Of all the old SSI 'goldbox' D&D clone games, this was probably the best. Note however, that the game makes reference to 'journal entries' that only existed in the paper manual. If you want to understand what's going on in the story, you'll need to download the manual from somewhere.
- I played this game on my Tandy 1000HX computer. It had 640k ram, 1200 baud internal modem, 2 - 3 1/2' floppy drives, external 5 ΒΌ ' floppy drive and a cm11 monitor with 16 colors. It also had a 9 wire dmp133 dot matrix printer. It ran on dos v2.11 with a program called deskview Tandy's version of windows like interface. When I played the game I would put in the first and second disk and open a program called pool.exe I think it was to play the game and it seemed like 10 minutes before the game started and once it did the fight scenes took forever to get through but, it had good sound and colors. It was a great game at that time.
