Crabsquids will notice you with or without light if you are close enough to them. That might have something more to do with using a submersible, I dunno.
The point at which having a light on or off makes a difference is when you are farther away from a crabsquid. They will aggro at a farther range from you if you shine a light near them. Thing is, once they so much as see or detect a submersible they tend to use their EMP so testing this in a submersible might not be a good idea. Maybe use your Seaglide light on them from a distance?AmpEels sometimes look like they might be sensitive to light but it is just as reasonable to assume that they aggro just as much when you have a submersible near them because of the electricity the submersibles produce. It's always been one of those 'Oh they will totally aggro on your lights, so you must have left your headliths on LOL!' Claims which in reality is basically, if they are close enough for their AI to notice your lightning it would have aggrod on you anyways even if you had your lights turned off.On the opposite end of the spectrum, flares are ignored by 'light sensitive' predators the majority of the time even if you bother trying to use them.

So they won't work on a food fish but they will work on a gasopod or a Stalker, and maybe also a ray (but I am not sure about thet yet). Agree with others in this thread. Crabsquids seem to hate light. Bone Sharks are aggressive anyway, but light does seem to affect aggro range. Noticed this most around the Mountain zone below 300m.
Ghost Leviathans? Yes, I’m convinced. Came out of portal area in Lost River in PRAWN suit.
The juvenile Ghost Leviathan spotted me from a significant distance and just kept attacking. Went back behind shield and came out swimming. Nothing.Oddly, the Cyclops on silent running with exterior floodlights off at low speed can practically run into any of the three aggressor leviathans (reaper, ghost, sea dragon) even in an environment that has light. I guess that suggests light sensitivity, but it’s a weird effect. I can’t swim past them anywhere near as close.I think the Crabsquid may be the most hostile creature in-game.
